Challenge

A mobile IP telephony application has to handle more than simply placing and receiving calls. It must remain responsive during everyday navigation, work reliably with changing network conditions, manage user sessions correctly, and keep call and contact information consistent across different parts of the application.

During our involvement, the application required ongoing improvements across several areas. These included delays when switching between menus, call interruptions after short network losses, slow or unsuccessful logout flows without connectivity, login and user-switching issues, and problems with calls after authentication changes. Other tasks involved incoming-call behavior, Bluetooth caller identification, voicemail states, call journal updates, contact permissions, contact search and filtering, and handling unknown phone numbers.

Solution

Our team worked on the continued development and maintenance of the mobile application, improving both user-facing functionality and the application’s internal architecture.

We enhanced call management to support more reliable and flexible business communications. This included work on attended call transfers, ad-hoc conferencing, creating conferences from active calls, fallback dialing when the softphone was unavailable, and improved handling of incoming and outgoing calls.

We also improved the contact and call history experience by refining contact management, search and filtering, caller identification, and the consistency of call and voicemail records. Additional work covered saving unknown numbers, editing contact information, correcting avatar and contact display issues, and improving voicemail state handling.

Interface responsiveness and usability were improved across menu navigation, quick-call functionality, keyboard interactions, button behavior, permissions, and localized date display.

At the architectural level, we separated key functional areas into clearer models for login, permissions, conferences, voicemail, modules, and operation groups. We also updated dependencies, reorganized conversion logic, and expanded unit and UI test automation to improve reliability and support ongoing development.

Result

The work strengthened the mobile business communication product across calling, contacts, conferencing, authentication, connectivity, and everyday interface behavior. Structural improvements and expanded test coverage also made the application easier to maintain and provided a stronger foundation for further development.
